The Alpha Course

Here at Christ Church we run The Alpha Course which originated from Holy Trinity Brompton in the late 1970’s. Over 17 million people worldwide have now attended an Alpha Course – ‘an opportunity to explore the meaning of life’, and is run in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world. The course is aimed at those who are interested in investigating the Christian faith for the first time and also for others who want to broaden their knowledge of Christianity and understand the challenges that Christians face. The course presents information about our faith in a completely non-threatening and non-pressurising way.

Each evening begins with a time of fellowship over a shared meal, followed by one of the following  talks:

  • Is there more to life than this?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • How can we have faith?
  • Why and how do I pray?
  • Why and how should I read the Bible?
  • How does God guide us?
  • How can I resist evil?
  • Why and how should I tell others?
  • Does God heal today?
  • What about the Church?
  • How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

Each talk is followed by an opportunity to discuss the subject within small groups where a frank exchange of views is encouraged. There is also an Away Day which focusses on the work and role of the Holy Spirit.

We have seen God move amazingly in people’s lives during this course.

Please contact the Church Office on 01527 460400 if you would like more information or would like to attend the next course.
